The Yobe State Police Command has successfully apprehended Haruna Mohammed, a 40-year-old leader of a notorious terrorist gang responsible for a series of criminal activities across Yobe and neighboring states. The command’s spokesperson, Mr. Dungus Abdulkarim, revealed that Mohammed was captured by the State Intelligence Department (SID) on June 16.
Haruna Mohammed had been a menace to several communities, orchestrating a reign of terror through threatening phone calls. He demanded substantial sums of money and valuables from his victims, instilling fear and anxiety among residents. One notable incident involved a victim from Siminti village, who reported that Mohammed demanded N3 million, accompanied by threats to kill him and his family if the demands were not met.
“In an intensive intelligence operation on June 16, detectives from the SID arrested Mohammed at Nangillam, a village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area,” Abdulkarim said. He highlighted the meticulous planning and execution of the operation, which led to the successful capture of the notorious gang leader. The spokesperson further disclosed that Mohammed has confessed to his crimes and has provided information on other members of his syndicate, who are now being actively pursued by the police.

The breakthrough came when intelligence reports pinpointed his location in Nangillam village, enabling the police to carry out a decisive operation. The capture of Mohammed is seen as a significant achievement in the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and crime in the region.
