FOSSRA HOLDS ITS REGULAR MEETING

The Forum of Spokespersons of Security and Response Agencies (FOSSRA) at its first meeting for the year held on Wednesday 20 January, 2016 at the Centre for Crisis Communication, Abuja agreed to continue to collaborate and synergise on information management in Nigeria.

In his opening remarks, the FOSSRA Chairman, Navy Commodore Kabiru Aliyu who is also the Director of Naval Information at the Naval Headquarters, thanked members for their steadfastness and commitment to the ideals of the forum which is essentially to promote cooperation and synergy among the military, security and response agencies in the country. He charged the spokespersons not to relent in their collaborative efforts towards ending insurgency especially in the areas of information exchange and harmonization as they are all working towards the same goal of promoting peace, security and national development. The Chairman expressed the Forums appreciation of the various activities engaged by the Centre for Crisis Communication while urging members to key into the upcoming Seminar on Crisis Communication being organized by the Centre for Information officers. He also used the opportunity to congratulate on behalf of the forum, the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar on his promotion to his new rank.

The meeting deliberated on a number of issues affecting information management among the agencies with the aim of strengthening inter-agency collaborations.

FOSSRA members include spokespersons of the Defence Headquarters, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police, Department of State Service, National intelligence Agency, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigerian immigration Service, Nigerian Customs service, Nigerian Prison Service, Federal Fire Service, Federal Road Safety Commission FRSC), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
