Troops from Operation Whirl Punch have recently engaged and neutralized five bandits in the Dantarau area of Kajuru Local Government Area in Kaduna State. The encounter took place during a patrol in the Kachia-Kajuru region.
Samuel Aruwan, the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, cautioning locals against offering medical assistance to suspicious individuals without notifying security agencies.
During the operation, the troops recovered significant weapons and equipment, including two AK-47 rifles, one locally-made sub-machine gun, nine AK-47 magazines, 250 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two motorcycles, and two handheld radio sets.
Additionally, the Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch targeted bandits’ camps in the Sabon Birnin Daji area of Igabi Local Government Area, effectively striking their hideouts.
Aruwan stated, “The troops embarked on operations to clear the Maro-Enugu axis spanning Kachia and Kajuru LGAs. At the Dantarau community, the troops engaged bandits, resulting in the neutralization of five criminals.”
He warned locals against aiding wounded bandits, noting that some may seek medical support after sustaining injuries during the operation.
Governor Uba Sani commended the troops’ gallantry, led by Maj-Gen. MLD Saraso, General Officer Commanding, 1 Division, Nigerian Army, and praised Air Vice Marshall NN Ananaba and his team for their contributions to the state’s security.
“The governor urged the military to sustain the momentum of operations,” Aruwan added.
