Nigerian Navy, CCC forge strategic partnership to combat misinformation
The Centre for Crisis Communications (CCC) and the Nigerian Navy have established a strategic partnership to combat misinformation and enhance information management. This collaboration was solidified during a courtesy visit by the CCC delegation, led by Chairman Major General Chris Olukolade (Rtd), to the Naval Headquarters in Abuja.
The CCC, a non-governmental organisation, aims to strengthen ties with the Nigerian Navy in information management and crisis communication.
General Olukolade (rtd) explained that the Centre has a proven track record of training over 500 information personnel across the services and maintaining regular media reviews and interactions with media and information officers.
He expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Navy for the warm reception, noting that such collaboration would have mutual benefits to both organizations.
Responding, the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla welcomed the delegation and appreciated their efforts in managing information crisis.
Represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans,Rear Admiral Joseph Akpan, Vice Admiral Ogallah suggested that the Centre could play a vital role in informing the public about the activities and operations of the Armed Forces, particularly the Navy.
He said the Navy is currently working on a compendium to document the experiences and events of past CNS for posterity.
The meeting was attended by Principal Staff Officers and Directors at the Naval Headquarters, demonstrating the Navy’s commitment to enhancing information management and combating misinformation.
The strategic partnership between the Nigerian Navy and the Centre for Crisis Communications marks a significant step towards promoting effective communication and addressing information crisis in the country.
