CCC Urges Counter-Terrorism Advocacy at the Grassroots Level

The Centre for Crisis Communications (CCC) and the Counter Terrorism Centre (CTC) will soon be embarking on an aggressive grassroots’ advocacy as part of boosting the Nigerian military’s counter-terrorism fight.

Executive Director of CCC, Major General Chris Olukolade (rtd) disclosed this when he led a delegation to the CTC office in Abuja. The CCC team were at the CTC office to forge a partnership collaboration.

Olukolade, while highlighting their Centre’s significant role in crisis management said: “Our track record in crisis communication is established through rigorous training programs and public awareness campaigns. 

“Partnering with the CTC will allow us to extend these efforts into local communities, where grassroots engagement is crucial.” He further emphasized the CCC’s commitment to inter-agency collaboration.

The CCC helmsman noted, “As a Centre, we have assured the state of our effective inter-agency coordination. Our activities are visible through our role in hosting and coordinating the forum of spokespersons from security and response agencies. 

“The goal is not just to foster collaboration but to minimize conflicts between agencies and ensure smooth operations.”

Olukolade expressed his appreciation to the CTC for their warm reception and optimism about the mutual benefits of the collaboration.

“Integrating grassroots advocacy into counter-terrorism strategies will not only strengthen our national response but also empower local communities to take an active role in counter-terrorism efforts,” he added.

In his response, Major General AG Laka, the CTC Coordinator, explained their Centre’s role in coordinating counter-terrorism operations, policy development, intelligence sharing, and public engagement. 

“Collaborating with the CCC will enhance our ability to reach and engage with communities directly.

“By working together, we can ensure that counter-terrorism messages are effectively communicated and embraced at the grassroots level,” he said.

The meeting, attended by senior officials from both organizations, underscored the importance of a coordinated approach to counter-terrorism. 

The strategic partnership between the CCC and the CTC signifies a significant advancement in integrating grassroots advocacy into national security efforts, aiming to foster a more resilient and informed public.
