A delegation of the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC), led by its Executive Chairman, Major General Chris Olukolade (Rtd), mni, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Defence Headquarters as part of preparations for the forthcoming 1st National Summit on Digitizing Crisis Communication in Nigeria: Real-Time Information for Peace, Development, and National Security.
The delegation was warmly received at the Defence Headquarters Annex by the Coordinator of the Centre for Civilian-Military Relations, Rear Admiral Olusanya Bankole on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa.
Speaking during the engagement, Major General Olukolade underscored the urgent need to modernize crisis communication systems in Nigeria, highlighting that effective, real-time information flow is crucial for national security, public confidence, and coordinated response during emergencies. He noted that the upcoming summit, scheduled for October 30, 2025, will bring together key stakeholders from the military, security agencies, government, media, private sector, and development partners to shape a sustainable national framework for digitized crisis communication.
Rear Admiral Bankole, in his response on behalf of the CDS, commended the CCC for its foresight in convening the Summit and reaffirmed the Defence Headquarters’ readiness to partner in advancing national security through innovative communication strategies.
Other members of the CCC delegation present at the visit included Rear Admiral Almu (Rtd), Air Commodore Aliyu Ibrahim (Rtd), and Alhaji Suleiman Adama.
The 1st National Summit on Digitizing Crisis Communication aims to showcase digital solutions, strengthen interagency coordination, and combat misinformation while producing a National Communiqué to guide Nigeria’s preparedness for future crises.
